5 Common Website Mistakes Accountants Make in Their Contact Section

As an accountant, your website is more than just a digital business card—it’s a critical touchpoint for potential clients. However, many accounting firm websites overlook some key details, especially in the contact section, that can make or break a potential client relationship. Below are five of the most common mistakes I see accountants make, and why these errors could be costing you clients.

1. Missing Email and Phone Hyperlinks

One of the most overlooked but important elements of a website’s contact section is clickable email and phone links. When a user clicks on your email address or phone number, it should immediately launch their email client or dialling app. Unfortunately, many accounting websites require users to copy and paste these details, which is both inconvenient and frustrating.

To avoid this mistake, ensure your email and phone numbers are properly hyperlinked.

2. Incorrect or Missing Google Maps Integration

Many accounting clients prefer to meet in person, making it crucial that your website includes accurate location details. Unfortunately, some websites either omit Google Maps entirely or display incorrect information. This can be a major inconvenience for clients who rely on online maps to find your office.

3. No Contact Form Confirmation or Turnaround Time

When a client fills out your website’s contact form, they’re expecting some sort of acknowledgment or next step. A major mistake many accounting websites make is failing to provide immediate feedback. After submitting a form, the client is left wondering when, or if, they will hear back.

4. Lack of Parking Information

While this might seem like a minor detail, providing parking information can make a significant difference for clients visiting your office. Parking can often be a source of stress, especially in busy areas or cities with limited parking availability. Including this information in your contact section not only shows that you care about your clients’ convenience but also helps them arrive on time for their appointments.
